They can be store-bought splash trays that don’t move the water very far or home-made contraptions consisting of pipes and hoses running across lawns and driveways. These stop-gap methods are marginally effective but require removal to mow the lawn or shovel snow. Many times the extensions are crushed by foot traffic or vehicles making it necessary to constantly replace them.
We treat this condition in a very simple and inexpensive way. We will install our standard evacuation pipes used in our basement waterproofing system, in the ground, and capture the downspout water for removal. Rain water doesn’t see daylight until it is well away from your house. Additionally, it will not be necessary to move pipes or extensions every time they are in the way or become damaged.
